Am I Pregnant?
This question may be asked if you are trying to get pregnant. You may not be trying to get pregnant but you might ask this question with concern and apprehension. It doesn't matter what your intentions are, it is nice to know if you have a bun in the oven. Let's discover what it is that makes women say "Could you be pregnant?"
Probable, Presumptive and Positive
There are three types of signs that indicate pregnancy: probable, presumptive and positive. "Presumptive" is "presumed in absence of additional information." You may assume you are pregnant if you have certain symptoms. However, it's impossible to be certain. Your symptoms could be caused by other factors. If you have symptoms that are "probable", it means that although you may be certain that you are pregnant, there's still the possibility that another factor is responsible. Positive, of course, indicates that there is no doubt.
Presumptive Signs of Pregnancy
Amenorrhea, a fancy term that refers to the fact that you have stopped having your period, is called amenorrhea. This is an obvious sign that there is something wrong with your body. However, it is not necessarily a sign of pregnancy. You may also experience a loss of menstruation if your hormones are not working properly, you have nutritional deficiencies or you are under too much stress. You may also experience other causes of your period stopping. Talk to your doctor if this is the only sign that you are pregnant.
Fatigue is common in early pregnancy, but is by no means limited to pregnant women. Changes in hormones can make you sleepy and sluggish. If you have fatigue in combination with other symptoms, it could indicate pregnancy.
Larger, more sore breasts are a sign of pregnancy. Your breasts can feel tender, sore or even tingly as your body prepares to give birth.
While back pain is often associated with late pregnancy, it can also be experienced in early pregnancy. This can be caused by your ligaments stretching and softening, which can cause strain to your joints.
Dizziness and lightheadedness can occur early in pregnancy. It can last for up to 40 weeks. However, it is more common during the first trimester. Your blood pressure may drop when you are pregnant, and hormones can cause dizziness. You may feel dizzy for many reasons, but be aware of other signs that could indicate pregnancy.
Pregnant women are more likely to experience mood swings because of the hormones in their bodies. An increase in estrogen can cause anxiety, depression, and irritability. Progesterone can cause fatigue, sadness, and mood swings. You are more likely to experience mood swings during pregnancy if you have PMS.
Pregnancy can cause constipation. This is because the progesterone hormone flood slows down your digestion. Constipation can be treated with fluids, fiber, and exercise.
Quickening is a sign of fetal movements. It can be detected between 16 and 20 week. This is unlikely to be your first sign of pregnancy. It can feel similar to gas and is therefore not considered a good or probable sign.
In their first trimester, most pregnant women experience poor sleep. There are many reasons for poor sleep, including an increased need to urinate and back pain.
In the first trimester, nausea and vomiting are often accompanied by food cravings and aversions. It could be because of hormonal fluctuations. A study found that cravings are more common than food aversions.
Heartburn in early pregnancy is caused by the same changes that can cause constipation. You might find that something you enjoy is causing you problems. It is common for heartburn to worsen when you lie down, which can be a problem for sleep.
The cause of nasal congestion is increased blood flow (remember, your blood volume doubles during pregnancy). This causes mucous membranes swelling which can lead to congestion. This can be caused by allergies but it does not necessarily indicate pregnancy.
Progesterone is our friend and causes shortness of breath. Progesterone is important for maintaining the uterine lining. However, it can also cause shortness of breath. This is probably due to the fact that it increases the amount you inhale as well as exhale.
You will only be able to detect elevated basal body temperatures if you are actively monitoring them. Some people use the basal body temperature method to predict ovulation. This is done to try to get pregnant, or to prevent getting pregnant. This method can be used to detect if you are pregnant by noticing an increase in your temperature.
Spider veins may appear on your legs or on your face. Spider veins, unlike varicose veins and other veins, are delicate and small. They tend to look more red than blue. Unlike varicose veins which can be painful, spider veins are not felt by most people.
Vivid dreams may be caused hormone changes and can be frightening or intense.
Although implant cramping and bleeding are less common than other symptoms, they can still happen. Implantation cramping is experienced by 30% of women, and bleeding occurs in 13%. Both should be short-term and not last for more than two days.
You may feel the urge to urinate more frequently after the baby's birth, although this is something you might think will happen later. Your blood volume doubles and your bladder fills up with more fluid.
You can experience nausea in pregnancy at any time. It typically starts between 6-9 weeks and lasts for 16 weeks. It can be a sign of pregnancy if you have ever vomited.
These are all signs that you might be pregnant. Each one could also indicate other causes. You are more likely to be pregnant if you have more.
The Probable Signs Of Pregnancy
These are all signs that you may be pregnant. These signs can be hard to confirm, but there are other possible explanations.
The soft cervix, also known by Goodell's sign or Goodell's sign can be seen as early as four weeks into pregnancy. When a woman conceives, the cervix will feel like it touches the tip of her nose. If you are trying to conceive, you can test this yourself. However, a pregnancy test will be easier.
It is quite common to see an increase in pigmentation during pregnancy. However, it will usually not show up until the second quarter, when you will likely know you are pregnant. The mask of pregnancy is a form of increased pigmentation that can appear on the face. It may also show up as a line running down from the belly button (linea nigra).
Positive pregnancy test. Medically, a positive pregnancy test does not indicate pregnancy. False positives on pregnancy tests are possible, so this is considered a probable sign. The chances of getting a false pregnancy test result are very low so most people will consider it a positive sign.
Positive signs of pregnancy
These are all signs that you may be pregnant. These signs can't be explained by any other reason.
An ultrasound can confirm that a pregnant woman is in good health. You will likely have an ultrasound between 6-8 weeks if your pregnancy is high-risk. You may be able to have a dating ultrasound at 10 to 13 weeks to determine the baby’s size and/or 18-20 weeks to examine the baby's organs to find out his or her gender. It's an event that you will always remember.
A doppler reading of a fetal heartbeat can only mean one thing. A baby is growing! You can use a fetal Doppler at home or wait until your first appointment (12 weeks usually) to hear your baby’s rhythm.
Your pregnancy can be confirmed by a doctor or nurse who feels or sees fetal movement. This sign is not like feeling the movements. Although gas can sometimes be mistakenly confused for fetal movement this sign is unambiguous!
A baby is born. Although it may seem absurd, this is a good sign that you are pregnant! There can't be any doubt at that point, you have to admit!
Since every baby grows at his/her own pace, measure the baby's height for the best fit. It is much more accurate than going off of the baby's age. Call us with any questions and we will be happy to help you determine the best fit for your baby.
